Joseph, upon realizing that Scotland is across the ocean (because my mom just went home for her BIL's funeral and my cousin is getting married in Oct. and we aren't going due to airfare x4) and that we can't go there right now, suggested a boat. I said that yes a boat could get us there but it is a long trip and still expensive. His response: "I've got it! Daddy's kayak!" (the best is that he emphasizes the second syllable so it comes out "kiYAK).
The boys are in art classes this week and the painting one isn't going so well. Despite the initial enthusiasm, the fun has worn off. The slow process of learning to layer and add and work with color values as the days go on is just not cutting it. The teacher suggested that they may be just a tad impatient for painting. Understatement of the week, indeed. After all, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
